Balurghat College is one of the oldest College of northern part of West Bengal. It came into being on September8, 1948 in the district headquarters, Balurghat of Dakshin (South) Dinajpur. It is the oldest as well as largest college of Dakshin Dinajpur district. Balurghat College is reckoned as a pioneering institute of higher education in North Bengal. The college symbolizes the hope and aspiration of the local youths and is a milestone in the history of cultural development of the district.
